Easy DIY Christmas Decoration - Charming Christmas Quilt
These Christmas quilts are not only a meaningful gift that you can give to your loved ones on Christmas but it can also be used as a home decoration. These quilts will make your home look cozier and more vibrant. With a large size, you can use it as a quilt blanket, with a smaller size, you can use it to hang on the wall.
Today we will show you how to make a 59" x 59" Christmas quilt. You can make smaller sizes with corresponding proportions.
FABRIC REQUIREMENTS
• Sixty-eight 5” squares
• 2 1/2 yards background
• 5/8 yard binding
• 3 7/8 yards backing
CUTTING
• 68 - 5” squares (Fabric A)
• Cut background fabric into:
2 - 5” x 14” rectangles (Fabric B)
2 - 5” x 11 3/4” squares (Fabric C)
2 - 5” x 9 1/2” rectangles (Fabric D)
2 - 5” x 7 1/4” rectangles (Fabric E)
2 - 5” squares (Fabric F)
12 - 5” squares (Fabric G)
2 - 2 3/4” x 5” rectangles (Fabric H)
2 - 5” x 32” strips (Fabric I)
2 - 5” x 41” strips (Fabric J)
7 - 5” x width of fabric strips (Fabric K)
• Cut binding fabric into:
7 - 2 1/2” x width of fabric strips (Fabric L)
ROW ASSEMBLY:
Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of the Fabric G squares.
With right sides facing, layer a Fabric G square with a Fabric A square.
Stitch on the drawn line and trim ¼” away from the seam. Half Square Triangle Unit should measure 5” x 5”
Assemble two Fabric C rectangles and two Half Square Triangle Units. First Row should measure 5” x 32”.
Assemble two Fabric D rectangles, two Half Square Triangle Units and one Fabric A square. Second Row should measure 5” x 32”.
Assemble two Fabric E rectangles, two Half Square Triangle Units and two Fabric A squares. Third Row should measure 5” x 32”.
Assemble two Fabric F squares, two Half Square Triangle Units and three Fabric A squares. Fourth Row should measure 5” x 32”.
Assemble two Fabric H rectangles, two Half Square Triangle Units and four Fabric A squares. Fifth Row should measure 5” x 32”
Assemble two Half Square Triangle Units and five Fabric A squares. Sixth Row should measure 5” x 32”. Make one. A A A A A
Assemble two Fabric B rectangles and one Fabric A square. Seventh Row should measure 5” x 32”.
QUILT CENTER:
Assemble Quilt Center. Quilt Center should measure 32” x 32”.
BORDERS:
Attach side inner borders using the Fabric I strips.
Attach top and bottom inner borders using the Fabric J strips
Assemble nine Fabric A squares. Side Middle Border should measure 5” x 41”.
Assemble eleven Fabric A squares. Top and Bottom Middle Border should measure 5” x 50”.
